I just returned from a wonderful conference with neonatologists and neonatal nurses presented by the Medical College of Georgia at Georgia Health Sciences University.  Here you see conference organizer Dr. Jatinder Bhatia, professor of pediatrics and chief of neonatology,  with program assistant Pat King.

Meeting at Kiawah Island, near Charleston, SC, I was asked to address the issue of how harm occurs in hospitals and what we can do about it.  I framed the issue in terms of training clinicians about the science of process improvement, front-line driven change, and transparency.  I drew analogies between the approaches used to coach sports and the manner in which learning occurs and teams can be built in hospital settings.

Attendees were gracious and engaged and pleased to receive copies of Goal Play! when they arrived at the session.
